Snowy Holiday Banner using GIMP

This is my first Holiday Season at Creativeblackmind and I thought it needed a special touch.
I created my Holiday-banner using Gimp. If you want to create a .gif image, make sure you have the right proportions (960×180) so WordPress doesn’t stretch it. Otherwise your image will be black and blurry. I downloaded the animated snowfall script which can be used as a filter. After downloading, unzip the folder, copy and paste the AnimatedSnow.scm file to your GIMP scripts folder: C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts. If GIMP is already open, go to Filters > Script-Fu > Refresh Scripts (this will let GIMP find the script). If GIMP is not open, open it and the script will be recognized.

I added a re-sized Santa hat to my standard banner. Make sure you merge all the layers before adding the filter! You have to play around with the settings to get the desired look. In the image below you can see the setting I used.

All you have to do then, is customize your page: Top left corner/Look and Feel/Customize/Header/Add new image/Save and that’s it! A snowy Holiday banner in no time!

I wish you all the best and hope you’ll enjoy the Holidays! Take care and thanks for stopping by.
