Happy Chinese New Year - Year of the Sheep

Happy Chinese New Year – Year of the Sheep

Happy Chinese New Year! I created an art journal page inspired with the new year zodiac sign.

Supplies I used
* Faber Castell Red Gelato (Cherry)
* Faber Castell Gelatos Toolset
* Faber Castell Big Brush / Pitt Artist Pen (Deep Scarlet Red)
* Ranger Mini Mister
* Ranger brayer / roller tool
* The Crafter’s Workshop Stencil
* Scrap papers
* Uni Posca Paint Markers
* Liquitex Matte Gel

This was my first time trying out a Gelato-water-spray-mix and used it to stencil the sheep and to color it’s head, which turned pink on me. I think I might have used too much water that made the color look a bit pale. Because there was so much spray on the stencil, I put a piece of paper over it and rolled it with a brayer. This left me with two designs.

I chose the negative piece and cut somewhat of an oval shape for the sheep its body. To make the sheep-character look more interesting, I added some doodle dots, shading and outlines. I fussy-cut it’s head out of a scrap piece of paper and doodled a face.

Because I wanted to the sheep to be the vocal point, I decided not to make a background. I glued everything down with Gel Matte medium and added a title with a big brush marker and a paint marker.

That’s it. I hope you like my crafty creation. I really enjoyed making this page and have learned a bit more about my Gelatos. There definitely will be many art journal pages to come.
Thanks for stopping by and take care!
