Flies in the face of other strategy games – Gamespot
As delightfully corrupt as ever – PC Gamer
Tropico 5 is a city-builder worth getting excited about – IGN
The most fun and accessible installment yet – Game Informer

My first thoughts after 12 hours of gameplay: It’s as entertaining and challenging as the previous games, but Kalypso Media Digital have changed the formula, which makes it more interesting and challenging to play. It’s “predecessor” was one of my absolute favorite in city-building games and I think this game will live up to my expectations. Some changes;

  • a more colorful feel of the complete game and the map
  • new factions and (building-)menus takes some getting used to
  • new music, new voices, new characters, new building with more options
  • more pun jokes
  • more building should be connected to the road
  • more in depth city-building with e.g. trading routes and research options
  • less customization of the avatar-character
  • more war and “active combat”
