Review : Agar.io

For all you one cell souls, now there’s a simple way to go forth and multiply! Just kidding of course.. In this online game you control a small round cell. Move it throughout the grid and eat other smaller cells to grow. Train your tactical mouse-moves in this simple game or enhance your finger-movement on a mobile device.. Joking, again, sorry.. Moving on!

I don’t really know what to think of the game. It’s not really entertaining, but has a fun factor to it. I think if you’re a competitive type that this game is more up your alley. Wanna see me having a go? Check this out;

Beta Testing: Eventide – Slavic Fable

About a month ago, I received an email that got me so excited! I was selected to be beta testing in my favorite genres by one of my favorite game developers of this moment. With over 45 minutes of gaming and only 10 minutes to complete a survey, it got me pretty excited.

Artifex Mundi Invitation

Artifex Mundi Invitation

Main Story line
You are Mary, a botanist who receives a letter from her grandmother about saving a particular type of plant. Grandma (Baba) lives in a park and without the plant the whole park could be in danger. While driving up to the park, you’re being attacked by “a creature” which pushes you and your car down the road. When you finally reach the village, the same creature kidnaps Baba and leaves her house half wrecked. Will you be able to rescue Baba and the plant she was talking about? And what is so special about a plant?

The Quest
The game takes the player through different chapters, each with their own beautifully designed scenery. As every good Artifex game, this game contains various mini games and puzzles. You won’t be alone in this quest to save Baba. Along the way you’ll meet some new characters and will make new friends that will help you throughout the quest.

Gameplay
The gameplay is good as the other full developed games I’ve played. Good and clear controls, difficulty mode options and the hint button in case you get stuck. (Haven’t used it though). Also very interactive, a bit of the same style in the mini games and puzzles as previous releases, but evenly fun and challenging. Didn’t feel like I was playing a beta-version, nice looking scenery and easy-listening background music which doesn’t get annoying.

The Verdict
It’s another great adventure, full of mystery, great characters and a good plot line. I would definitely recommend to keep an eye out for the official release of this game, if you like casual gaming. Well done Artifex for involving the gaming community and thank you for the invite and the opportunity to test and play!

I’ve made a playlist over on Youtube where you can join me throughout this beta demo. There are 4 vids in total and the will uploaded every other day.

Review and Walktrough: 12 Labours of Hercules III – Girl Power

Game description
Hercules, a hero from Ancient Greece, is fighting the beast Scylla when Charybdis captures loyal Cerberus and also takes the hero himself. It’s up to Hercules’ wife Megara to help him out and take part in all of his adventures. Can you help rescue Hercules and Megara in this time management game and help them on this adventure?

Objectives
– remove obstacles, mine gold, collect food, wood and puzzle pieces
– defeat various monstrous Greek mythical creatures
– earn three stars for each level to rebuild an entire castle

Gameplay
The general controls are very easy with the use of a big cursor. When starting a new game, the player has to choose which difficulty mode the game should be in. The short tutorial gives the player a good idea how the game works. Besides collecting resources and completing the several goals, there are mini games which add some variety to the gameplay.

The Verdict
This game offers a new adventure, but there’s not much difference in comparison to the first two games. Even the music is the same. The graphics are good, the gameplay is easy, the cut scenes are very entertaining and in some levels this game can be a big challenge. All in all quite an addictive game and a nice twist on your High School History lessons!

I made a short walktrough which takes you through the first 5 levels.

You can also download a free demo by clicking here.
Let me know what you think of the game and if you like me to make more vids. You can do so by leaving a comment. Take care and hope to see you next time.

Hans Christian Andersen’s Tin Soldier

Christmas Stories 3: The Tin Soldier

The Tin Soldier is the third and newest addition in a game series called Christmas Stories and was December 2014 by Elephant Games. It’s a casual hidden object game based on the original story The Steadfast Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Andersen.

Main Story line
Your old friend Albert, the Nutcracker, needs your help. He turned into a toy again. This time by an evil baron who wants to harm Alberts’ brother Charlie en his fiancé Nina. The baron and his minion trolls turned Charlie into a little toy soldier, Nina into a toy ballerina and kidnapped her! On Alberts’ request you arrive at the castle and help to fight off evil trolls. Unfortunately, Charlie is tossed into the fire. The little soldier melts, but his ruby heart still beats.

I spend all afternoon trying to capture the intro but couldn’t get it to work. A little slideshow of the intro instead;

The Quest
The game takes the player through 6 chapters and a 2 bonus games. And, as we know it from the previous Christmas Stories each chapter contains their different setting, scenery, mini games and puzzles. With the help of some friends and a little Christmas Magic, will you be able to revive Charlie, beat the evil baron and his curse and turn everyone human again?

Gameplay
The gameplay is very similar to the first two Christmas Stories. The general controls and navigation are as good as we know it. The cut scenes have improved in quality and new various mini games and hidden object puzzles are added. It’s not like the player has to do the same puzzles in a different setting throughout the series. Besides Achievements, this game also has Collectibles. This time kitty cats are scattered throughout the game. Once again, the Hint button and a Strategy Guide are included.

Extra content with the Collectors’ Edition
The Collectors’ Edition contains 16 wallpapers, 20 concept drawings, 5 soundtracks, 3 screensavers and 2 bonus games. The bonus games offers new storys and mini adventures with some familiar friends and new puzzles to solve.

The Verdict
I’ve experienced this game as entertaining as the first two Christmas Stories, but more exciting. Elephant Games succeeded to create a very good game series based on well known stories. Not only was I dazzled by the artwork used to create the scenery and puzzles, but the little twist to the original stories kept me intrigued throughout the entire game. As mentioned before, I would definitely recommend this game.

So that’s it for the Christmas Stories! I hope they continue this series and can’t wait to see what story will be next.
Take care and I hope you’ll enjoy the Holidays!

Christmas Stories 2 A Christmas Carol by Elephant Games

Christmas Stories 2: A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol is the second in a game series called Christmas Stories and was released December 2013 by Elephant Games. Elephant Games has created a casual hidden object game based on the original story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Mister Dickens is famous for writing Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations and many other great stories.

Main Story line
In this game, the player is not a random visitor like the in the the first Christmas Stories. The player takes the roll of the nephew of Ebenezer Scrooge. THE Ebenezer Scrooge. The game begins with a pressing letter from your uncle who, uncharacteristically, invites you over to spend Christmas. He states to be suffering from strange visions and feels “the breath of death like never before”. Can you help him figure out his visions and fill his unhappy, lonely life with good deeds? Suprisingly, the games starts at gates once more.

The Quest
The game takes the player through 6 chapters and a bonus game. And, as we know it from the first Christmas Stories each chapter contains their different setting, scenery, mini games and puzzles. With the guidance of the 3 Ghosts of Christmas – Past, Present and Yet to Come, your quest is to help Ebenezer rectify and repair his life. Can you preform enough good deeds to bring some happiness and fortune into Ebenezers’ flawed and bitter life?

Gameplay
The gameplay is very similar to the first Christmas Stories. The general controls and navigation are as good as in The Nutcracker. The cut scenes, various mini games and hidden object puzzles may differ in type or genre but the quality remains intact. Besides Achievements, this game also has Collectibles. This time penguins are scattered throughout the game. Once again, the Hint button and a Strategy Guide are included.

Extra content with the Collectors’ Edition
The Collectors’ Edition contains 12 wallpapers, 12 concept drawings, 5 soundtracks, 2 screensavers and a bonus game. The bonus game offers a new story and new mini adventure with some familiar friends and new puzzles to solve.

The Verdict
I’ve experienced this game as entertaining as the Nutcracker, but more captivating. I’ve really grown fond of the concept of being carried away in a well known story, saturated with Christmas Magic and other story lines added to give the original story a unpredictable twist. The artwork used to create the scenery and puzzles again beautifully done and of high quality. The cut scenes have definitely improved and is now in the same high definition as the rest of the scenes.
As mentioned before, I would definitely recommend this game.

For more information or a free trial of A Christmas Carol, visit the official website of Elephant Games. To purchase this game, visit Big Fish Games.

I hope this review was helpful. I didn’t mean to sound repetitive, but these series are just very good and entertaining.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you next time!
