Challenges

Art Journal Challenge

Hi! I’m back with another crafty post. I got stuck on my first-try-project with my new Faber Castell goodies and wanted to abandon ship and move on. And what better way to move on than to start a challenge in your new Dylusions’ Art Journal?! Another birthday present (I was SUPER spoiled!) that I got to play with. My theme was inspired by “Take the Challenge with Mou“, to create any project about your favorite beverage. This was a quick choice to make, since the last couple of months I’m completely hooked on Little Miracles Organic Energy drinks.

I started by sketching on printer paper. After I was satisfied with my sketch, I sketch it again in my art journal. I colored the sketch, using the colors of the bottle of Little Miracles. As you can see in the images below, a little Gelato will give you a lot of color. I build up the colors gradually, using my fingers and a baby wipe to blend.

For the background I used my Gelatos to color Whipped Spackle, which I used on a Heidi Swapp flower stencil. You just scribble a Gelato onto your craft sheet, add the Whipped Spackle and mix them together. The sky I also embellished with a Heidi Swapp stencil. For some extra definition and outlining, I used some Big Brushes and blended them with my finger while they were still wet. Lastly, some letter stickers by Hema and my page was done!

I’m really sorry for the bad lighting. I lightbulb died today and my phone won’t cooperate to make a nice and crisp image. But you’ll get the idea.. Leave me a comment on what you think of my page, working with Gelatos and Big Brush pens but most importantly.. What is your favorite beverage? I’d love to hear from you. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and take care!

Sliding into 2015!

Happy New Year! I hope you’ve enjoyed the Holiday Season and wish you all the best for this new year.

2014 was very exciting for me; starting this Blog, opening my Etsy shop and participating in Crafty Challenges. 2015 will be more visual and interactive. Besides the regular posts, you can expect Let’s Play video series for games and I will post more crafty tutorials .

I started 2015 creating 2 cards, based on Mojo Monday Card Challenge 378. I experimented a lot, using distress mini ink cubes 1&3. As you can see in the images, I took the forms of the sketch and made a new design. I used that new design as my template for my cards. Maybe I took the concept of “out of the box” thinking too far, but I love how they turned out. Leave a comment on what you think, I love to hear how much you’d deviate from a sketch and what you think of my creations.

Mojo377 Card Challenge Sketch

I’m so happy with the Holidays. Spending time with my loved ones and finding time to craft. After browsing through Pinterest, I stumbled upon a blog called Mojo Monday. They provide card sketches for card challenges and once a month they have a contest. This was the card sketch for this week;

I decided to not only make a card, but a complete digital Silhouette design and tutorial. I found the blogpost Yesterday and I was cutting it close (no pun intended) because the deadline closes at  8:00 PM North America – Mountain Standard Time. Here’s my finished card! I used some leftover Christmas papers and, two layers of foam tape and a tape runner. Hope you like it.

Challenges: Pink layout and Alteration mini project

Hi again!
So, if I wasn’t busy enough, 3 Scrapadabadoo DT members gave a 2 challenges to finish.
I actually finished them within 2 days, minus 20h in the office of course.

First challenge
DT member PaperDutchess gave me an alteration challenge
using the 6″ Jumbo Clothes Pin from the Scrapa webshop.
I don’t think they have it on stock at the moment, but you can always request stuff you don’t see by sending them a messages,
if you are interested of purchasing one of course.

Anyway, my creation is an origami inspired 3d Japanese doll.
You can still open the pin by pressing on her feet, after you remove her head that is..
Okay, before you judge me, let me explain this decision.
If I would turn the design of the doll around, you’d be pinching her head while holding a bit of her “chest”.
Believe it or not, I really did think this through ..

Anyway, this is the final result of the first challenge;

Second challenge
My second challenge was to make a pink 6″ x 6″ layout, using some templates, butterflies, “proper use of ribbon” and to add bling.
I finished it for as far as I could. Will have to shop for some bling though..
But, since I can’t finish it at the moment, I just wanted to share my progress so far.
(and when I finish the layout, I will remove the extra L-typo..)
YES, a Tokidoki inspired layout again. Can’t help it, but I have a crush on their designs..

Flying easel card

Hi! Just a quick photo share of my card challenge this week.
It’s been really busy at work so please forgive me for my belated post.

I don’t know if I have time to finish my Sims 4 challenge today, but it will be done this weekend!
Gonna add a drawer to this challenge to turn it into a gift box.

Enjoy your weekend and I’ll check in again tomorrow.
Take care and hope to see you then.
